I was once again browsing Flickr, and something about this picture really caught my attention. At first glance, it's difficult to tell exactly what it is, but once you really focus you can see that it is in fact someone holding a small fishbowl with a goldfish.
I think the fact that the image was in such stark black and white contrast with the subtle variations of gray in between was what caught my attention at first. It's very rare these days to find truly captivating grayscale or black and white images. Despite the fact that the image is so simple, it still interested me.
It makes me wonder what the photographer had in mind when he/she decided to capture the image. Was he trying to portray a message of helplessness of the account of the goldfish? Or one of power through the person holding the bowl? Or did he simply take it on a whim?
I really am quite fascinated by this photograph.
